With nearly 14 years of diverse experience, Hussain Hasanali currently serves as the Chief Commercial Officer at Engro Polymer & Chemicals, where he drives strategic initiatives across commercial functions, including business development, sales, and marketing.

Hussain began his professional journey at HBL as an investment banker, leading notable initiatives like the IPO of Avanceon Limited and structuring debt and equity for corporate dairy farming ventures.
In 2013, Hussain joined Engro Polymer & Chemicals Limited, where he took on various roles across finance, business planning, marketing, and new ventures. His contributions were pivotal to the company’s financial turnaround — from implementing a KPI-driven management reporting system to enhancing pricing strategies through analytics, securing raw material arbitrage, and driving the company’s first-ever sukuk issuance valued at $75 million following a historic credit rating achievement.

In 2019, Hussain transitioned to Engro Corp as General Manager for Strategy and Business Development. Here, he played a key role in charting the Group’s petrochemical strategy, developing its first sustainability framework, leading portfolio optimization exercises, and laying the groundwork for the national petrochemical policy. Later, as Chief of Staff to the President, he led strategic initiatives ranging from shaping government engagement to refining the Group’s operating model and investment frameworks. He also served as Secretary to the Executive Committee at Engro, managing critical leadership and performance processes.

Hussain holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi, and has completed the Advanced Leadership Program at INSEAD, Singapore.

When he’s not driving strategic initiatives, Hussain can often be found with a paintbrush in hand or swimming laps to unwind.
